The carbon cycle
The carbon cycle is the process of how CO2 or Carbon Dioxide is put in and taken out of the atmosphere. Carbon is put when animals breathe or when fossil fuels are burned and get put in the atmosphere. Plants can take carbon out of the atmosphere by using photosynthesis and absorbs the carbon.
There will always be a pretty steady flow of Carbon dioxide in the air because of all the pollution we put out and all the plants that use photosynthesis to take it all out. But it takes a long time for carbon to finally disappear from the earth. At this time of our lives, we are at extreme highs of Carbon in the air.the amount of carbon put into the atmosphere and the amount of carbon taken out of the atmosphere is naturally equal. Carbon is naturally released into the atmosphere by respiration and decomposition, but an equal amount is taken out of the atmosphere by the process of photosynthesis. When humans burn fossil fuels, they add more carbon to the atmosphere and while photosynthesis is able to take in extra co2 and put out oxygen, it still results in less carbon carbon added to the atmosphere every year. can help explain how the carbon cycle works.
